I’ve been there…

The Office

January 8, 2024: It’s National Clean off Your Desk Day!

And boy, does my desk need it (and my entire office if I’m being real).

I know it’s cliché to say that January is a great time to think of your yearly goals and declutter your mind and space because it’s always a good time. HOWEVER, as an Aquarius and an INFJ personality, I loveeeee a January 1st mood board planning session with lists and goals. Sorry, not sorry.

I’ll share with you some of my goals for 2024 with Open Book:

  • Transition from a spreadsheet to Quickbooks

  • Add a new team member to help with bookkeeping tasks

  • Help more individuals through my spreadsheets and guides

  • Fall in love with Instagram (and social media) again

Now you might be thinking… WHAT? Roxanne, you’re a Quickbooks Platinum ProAdvisor how can you be using a spreadsheet for Open Book?

Great question! 😉

Simple answer: I practice what I preach.

I utilized my Ultimate Biz Tracker to track my business transactions for Open Book in 2023 to:

  1. Customize this spreadsheet to be the most useful it can be, and I could only do that by using it myself.

  2. I always tell my clients to start with something basic and simple.

My goal is to, once you understand Debit and Credits, where you spend most of your money, what reports are important to verify, and why and how to track your home/vehicle expenses, we’ll work together to transfer you over to Quickbooks (which I LOVEEE). It’s a great platform with amazing tools to fully optimize your time.

So we’re now January 8, and you’re feeling a bit anxious because you might not have your 2023 bookkeeping tied up with a bow and/or you might not have a bookkeeping system that works.

Here’s how I can help you figure out if you need a bookkeeper in your life (specifically Open Book lol):

  • Do you know where to easily find your paper receipts?

  • What about those electronic receipts?

  • Can you easily pull out your spreadsheet/bookkeeping tool and tell me exactly how much profit/loss you’ve generated for a certain period?

  • Can you list out all of the subscriptions you’re currently paying for for your business?

  • If you charge GST/HST, do you have a system in place to save for repaying this (if you owe money)?

  • If you’re tight on time, do you have tools to help you accelerate your bookkeeping process (ex: Shopify integration in Quickbooks)?

  • Are you aware of what you can claim as business expenses?

  • If you’re using your car for business purposes, did you know you could claim a percentage of your expenses on your business Income Tax Return?

I’m not listing all of these questions to stress you out!

My goal is to show you how having a personal cheerleader by your side can make a HUGE difference in your business.

Coming from a background where money was tight, I understand the importance of offering a variety of tools with budget-friendly options. Whether you grab my Empowering Bookkeeping DIYers guide or have me complete your bookkeeping on an ongoing basis, I’m here to help you feel at ease.

You can find more information on my Services or my Tools for DIYers page on my website.🫶

I’ll leave you with some cute freebies! Happy tracking!

I found some SUPER cute savings trackers on Canva. It’s a great way to stay on track all year round!
